It's confirmed.
Mathieu van der Poel will take to the start line at both the World Championship Road Race and the Mountain Bike World Championships it has been announced in a press conference.
“I'm here anyway. Maybe something good will happen. The form should normally be good because of the World Championships on the road, although we cannot fall back on a specific example,” says the Dutchman, explaining his choice to double up in Glasgow.
Van der Poel intends to compete for Olympic Gold next year in Paris on the Mountain Bike and this World Championship is seen as the perfect precursor to see where his level is at in relation to his competitors. Also with the Dutch team struggling in qualification, Van der Poel may be needed by his nation.
