Thibau Nys has delighted the packed out Belgian crowds with a fabulous victory at the x20 Trophee Koppenbergcross.
Right from the start, Thibau Nys began to try and assert his dominance at the front of the race, finishing the first lap with a narrow lead over the nearest of his challengers. As the rain started to fall on lap 3, Nys was 20 seconds ahead of a group of fours chasers that included
Eli Iserbyt, Michael Vanthourenhout, Cameron Mason and
Lars van der Haar.
Nys did then hit the deck, but thankfully was okay and there was no drama given his clear lead. With Nys managing to stay upright from there, the Belgian starlet managed to hold on to the advantage at the bottom of the final ascent of the Koppenberg. Behind, van der Haar was pushing ahead of Iserbyt in the battle for second at that's how things finished.
It's not always easy following in the footsteps of a famous father, but this kid is the real deal.
