Thibau Nys abandons Diegem Superprestige with a bruise on his knee: "At first he could no longer move his knee, it's better now"

Thibau Nys has suffered a bruise on his knee. The young rider from Baloise - Trek Lions fell on the slope in the Diegem Superprestige, after which he had to immediately stop in the race.

Nys was having a great race when he crashed. What exactly happened? "He sank with the bike on the slope and then fell on his knee. It was immediately thicker under his knee and at first he could no longer move his knee. That is why he decided to abandon immediately," he explains to WielerFlits.

Immediately after the incident, team doctor Mathieu came to the rescue. Ice was placed on Nys' knee to counteract the swelling. "The ice has already caused some movement again. But at least I noticed that he has a bruise on his knee, right next to one of the tendons. If you apply force, it really hurts. It would have had a serious impact."

"In all likelihood his knee will stiffen up now, but hopefully the ice will do its job. He will have to rest that on his knee all evening. A visit to the hospital to have photos taken is currently not necessary. We can possibly do that tomorrow, but I don't think that will be necessary. We will know more after a night's sleep." It is therefore not yet clear whether Nys will be at the start in his home cross in Baal.
