Puck Pieterse takes Val di Sole win as Fem van Empel abandons with worries of serious injury

Puck Pieterse has won the CX World Cup Val di Sole. Following her crash, she recovered and set a gap that she maintained to win her fifth race of the season.

Silvia Persico had the best start, but soon she crashed hard, which also involved Fem van Empel and Puck Pieterse. Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado used this commotion to place herself in the lead.

Pieterse was able to make a comeback and take the lead for herself, but Van Empel was hurt in the crash and decided to abandon the race. Persico was in the third position after three laps, 35 seconds behind Pieterse.

Puck Pieterse crossed the finish line first to celebrate her fifth victory of the season. Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado took the silver, and Manon Bakker finished third.
