Lucinda Brand out of competition for unknown time following hand fracture

Cyclocross was to see perhaps a third big battle between Lucinda Brand and Fem van Empel at the Tabor World Cup this weekend, but Baloise - Trek Lions have revealed this will not be happening, following an injury sustained during the recon of the course.
The Dutch rider, current defending champion in the World Cup - where she currently sits in second position - has crashed whilst doing a recon of the course in the Czech Republic. She has suffered a fracture of the right metacarpal and will be out of competition for unknown time, effectively blasting her chances at some of the cups and likely the European Championships.
