Lucinda Brand gives update on her condition following terrifying crash at Zonhoven World Cup

Lucinda Brand had looked in prime position to add a victory at the UCI World Cup in Zonhoven to her palmares on Sunday afternoon before it all came crashing down.

A solo leader, Brand saw her front wheel slip out bringing her to the ground face first in what were some terrifying pictures. Despite the fact she had looked certain of the win, this crash forced Brand to withdraw in some considerable pain.

Puck Pieterse eventually went on to win whilst many fans were left worrying about Brand's condition. Thankfully now, the former world champion has provided an update. "Wow, that hurts. What a race! Until I hit the ground…" Brand writes on Instagram.

"Did hit my nose very hard, next up: making an x-ray to decide the next steps in the process. Thanks for all your kind messages. I promise I will keep fighting!"
