Laurens Sweeck won the X2O Trofee Lille after a tight competition with Lars van der Haar, earning his sixth victory of the season.
“Lars also drove for the general classification, and I think we worked well together,” Sweeck said after the race. He continues, “It wasn't easy because we were on the attack from the start. That made it a long cross, but I'm happy to finish it."
He launched an attack in the last lap and secured a slight lead that was enough to claim victory. “Lars didn't jump and I was able to grab that one second there. I knew I had to be in the lead there because it was hard to keep the wheel. Then I drove full to the finish, We didn't talk much, but we understood each other. So we took turns leading a lap,” said Sweeck.
He views this season as a successful one, and is content with his overall performance. “I place this victory next to the other victories. For me it is the confirmation of a very good season. But it's not done yet,” concluded Sweeck.
