Laurens Sweeck victorious in CX Maasmechelen

Laurens Sweeck has won the UCI World Cup Maasmechelen. He took the lead in the early laps and maintained it till the finish line to score his first victory of the season.

Laurens Sweeck had a nice start, while Quinten Hermans met with a crash. Lars van der Haar and Eli Iserbyt were trailing Sweeck, looking for an opportunity to attack. The duo made some progress and decreased the gap, but Iserbyt crashed and lost crucial time in changing bikes while van der Haar was trying to control Sweeck.

Sweeck had a lead of 33 seconds in the 7th lap. Iserbyt and van der Haar were desperately trying to catch up with Sweeck, but their effort could not stop him from crossing the finish line and taking his first victory of the season. Lars van der Haar took silver. Eli Iserbyt finished third.
