Lander Loockx sets sights to prove himself on the road: "I am very motivated to see where I can end up"

Lander Loockx still hadn't received any explanation regarding his non-selection from national coach Sven Vanthourenhout. That is still not the case, but the 26-year-old rider from TDT-Unibet has now washed away the disappointment he assures WielerFlits.

However, the non-selection is not that bad for Loockx. "The past period has been very busy for me. These were weeks in which you really lived from cross to cross. By not participating in the European Championships, I can resume training for another ten days in a row. That was hardly possible in recent weeks. However, it is important to do sufficient training with a view to the rest of the season. And that is also crucial towards the summer."

Because Loockx wants to test himself on the road in the coming year. "That's why I'm already riding a lot less cyclo-cross, the only disadvantage is that my position in the UCI ranking will only decrease. In December I will be going on an altitude camp with the road team for another two weeks."

"In mid-January I will stop racing, take a short rest period and we will immediately continue with spring on the road," Loockx continues. "I have quite some ambition for that. It's exciting, a new wind. I am very motivated to see where I can end up."
