Sven Nys expressed his admiration about the way his Baloise - Trek Lions team is performing on X. The cross formation was back on the podium for men and women this weekend in both Herentals and Namur, which makes the team boss more than proud.
Lucinda Brand finished second in Herentals on Saturday after a fierce duel with Fem van Empel and took third place on Sunday at the Citadel of Namur. Among the men, Baloise - Trek Lions also provided excellent resistance against the returning Mathieu van der Poel and Tom Pidcock: Lars van der Haar flanked the two top players on the podium in Herentals, while Pim Ronhaar and Joris Nieuwenhuis stood next to Pidcock on the podium in Namur on Sunday.
"It is fantastic to see how the team has evolved in recent months," said Nys, whose son Thibau will return to Antwerp next Saturday after a few weeks of relative rest. "Every week I see very good performances. This team has matured and is setting the bar at the right height for itself. I am proud of Baloise Trek Lions."
There is also pride among the riders themselves. For example, Brand told In de Leiderstrui on Saturday that she is happy that she is at a level that allows her to compete for victories with Van Empel. "Hopefully there will be more races like that in the coming weeks. Getting back to this level was my biggest goal of this season, so it is very nice to succeed," said Brand, who started the season later due to an injury.
