For just the third time in her career, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado tasted UCI World Cup success on Sunday in Dendermonde. Add that to her success from Saturday at Superprestige Niel and it makes for a perfect weekend for the Dutchwoman.

"I felt very good from the start and knew that I had to tackle the cross at my own pace. Fortunately, Lucinda Brand disappeared quickly, but I didn't let myself be fooled and it went better than expected," said Alvarado in her post-race interview.

Having finished the first lap 13 seconds clear of Brand, the gap would only increase for the rest of the race, giving Alvarado a second success in as many days. “It's been a long time since that,” beams the delighted 25-year-old. "The double win and the form both feel very good."

After a rough spell, Alvarado is back enjoying herself on the bike once again. "Those were two difficult years and my driving was very inconsistent at the time. However, I kept working hard, found the fun again and things kept getting better."
