Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado has continued her dominance in Fem van Empel's absence by taking a dominant victory in Dendermonde at the UCI World Cup.

On her return to cyclocross, Lucinda Brand was showing little signs of rust, straight away managing to take the lead. As she went into the pits to change bikes though, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado stayed out and made the most of it to take the lead herself at the end of lap 1 by 14 seconds.

The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider was only extending her lead from there, whilst behind Brand the likes of Zoe Bäckstedt and Aniek van Alphen were closing on second place. However, Alvarado was uncatchable, and the Dutchwoman comfortably secured just her third career World Cup win ahead of Brand in second and third.
