In the latest episode of Kop over Kop live from the cycling gala, Demi Vollering is a guest in the improvised studio. Vollering had a particularly successful year, including wins in the Tour de France and the Strade Bianche. She doesn't have to think for long about which was her most surprising win.
"It has to be Flanders, I really didn't see it coming at all. When I look back at that attack, it still makes me very happy. That was really a textbook attack. I felt the final suddenly became very good. That race had a very nice course and the fact that I did not see the win coming made it very special."
"I now also have the bonus that I can wear a red-white-blue jersey during every training session. I have not been able to show that all season. I am really looking forward to finally racing in that jersey next year and Hopefully I can also win a race in it one day," said the rider of the year.
The outside world now expects nothing other than victories from Vollering and that can sometimes cause stress. That is why Vollering specifically hired a sports psychologist: "I always try to focus on the fact that I like cycling so much. I can talk about that very well with my sports psychologist."
