The route of the 2025 Tour de France will be presented in just over a month on the 29th of October. In most years, most rumours are already known by this time; but there has been more secrecy and privacy when it comes to avoiding information from coming out. Here is what we do however know about next year's Tour already.
The race will have it's Grand Depart in the northwest of France, a region that does not often see the Grand Boucle on it's roads. The first stage will start and finish in the city of Lille whilst stages 2 and 3 will finish in Boulogne-sur-Mer and Dunkerque. Stage 4 will start in Amiens and leave the Hauts-de-France region, but the finale is not yet known. An investigative work from Velowire tells us a little about what we may expect from the route.
Stage 4 is possibly finishing in the city of Rouen; Stage 5 could be a time-trial around the city of Caen; and the race would then go to Bretagne where it's reported that stage 6 finishes in Saint-Méen-le-Grand before the peloton finishes atop the famous Mur de Bretagne the following day.
The race will likely keep heading south through the western half of the nation and stage 9 is possibly finishing in Châteauroux. However the second half of the race is under close curtains. Bagnères-de-Luchon could host a finale in the Pyrenees; whilst French media have also mentioned a possible return of Mont Ventoux... Recently, it has been known that Sestrière will likely host a finale (after the Colle delle Finestre) of either a Giro d'Italia or Tour de France stage, but not in both and so it is unknown still where this will be. A finale in Varese, Italy, is also possible; but the race will return to Paris for it's grand finale after Nice hosted it this year.
