The loved ones of Amy Pieters, who fell badly in December 2021, have provided a new update on the Dutch cyclist's recovery on the website of the Dutch cyclist.
"Amy is doing very well physically, but the prospects from her mental situation are not yet the way we want to hear and see them."
"It's been quiet around Amy for a while. In the meantime, Amy has been busy revalidating. During this period, a number of things were noticed and discussed with us. We also want to inform you about this."
"For Amy, the sense of day and time is difficult. She still can't talk, which doesn't make explaining something to each other any easier. Her memory is short, very short. It is intensive and sometimes painful to realize that what Amy sees, goes through and experiences, that this is only short-lived."
"Amy is cheerful every day because of her character, her smile makes up for a lot. However, our sadness, to miss the old Amy, who stays," Pieters' loved ones share. "Accepting this is virtually impossible and you never get used to it. Still, we don't give up hope, as long as there is progress, Amy can still surprise us," they optimistically conclude the message.
