Italians Alessandro Tonelli and Manuele Tarozzi showed off in the first stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, but made a mistake in the last kilometer that could have cost them the victory.
The two Italians from VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè entered the last kilometer together with a lead of more than a minute over their pursuers. At a traffic circle, they made a mistake and stumbled over a tape indicating that they could pass through.
Tarozzi went out fast, but Tonelli lost some meters. His victory was not in danger. Then Tarozzi waited for Tonelli and allowed him to win (we imagine there were team orders).
