At yesterday's Gent-Wevelgem, the young Eritrean rider has stormed to what was a much-celebrated win throughout the cycling world.
Biniam Girmay wrapped off what was a strong collective performance from
Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux at the race, taking his second win of the year but arguably the biggest in his career.
Girmay had counter-attacked Christophe Laporte with 24 kilometers to go in what was the race's winning move, and later beat him in the sprint that included Dries van Gestel and Jasper Stuyven aswell.
In a video shared by the Belgian team, the moment in which it was announced that Girmay had taken the win was captured on video by a mechanic in the team's main car where you can also see team DS Hilaire van der Schueren.
