Alberto Contador was racing the China Challenge of La Vuelta a España, which was held in Beijing. The former pro and current Eurosport commentator suffered a hard fall that left his face bloody after suffering cuts to his eyebrow, lip and cheekbone. He later recorded a video to reassure his fans that he is fine;
"Hello everyone, today I suffered a fall in the Desafío China by @lavuelta, they have made the sharpener and despite trying to jump the rider on the ground that preceded me has been impossible to save it," he wrote. "I send this video to convey tranquility despite the shocking images, fortunately it has been more the apparatus than gravity, only a few stitches in eyebrow, cheekbone and lip. We continue. Thanks @puritocycling , @pedrodelgadoweb and Weimar for transmitting me so much tranquility and support in those moments."
