Chloé Dygert's disappointment after Saturday's "only" bronze from the Olympic time trial due to a crash in one of the slippery corners doesn't seem to stick around with the American for too long as there are other goals to look forward to in Paris for Dygert.
Dygert should appear at the start of Sunday’s elite women’s road race and reload for the women’s team pursuit next week. "She’s planning on it and she’s looking forward to it," national coach Kristin Armstrong told
Velo about the Sunday’s road race.
"She hasn’t been on her bike yet, but I had breakfast with her, and she’s in good spirits. She’s a competitor and she’s not going to let much take her down. She’s excited for the road race. She’s trained well, and those last circuits in the road, they’re going to be tricky. In general, after a big time trial and a big event like that, those emotions are going to take 48 hours to recover from," Armstrong said.
"Chloé is doing great. She took the day off, and [Monday] she will go out for an easy spin," Armstrong said. "On Wednesday she will be back on the track. I think she will be OK for team pursuit, and if something happens in road race, that is just the risk we take," said Armstrong, who also coaches Sunday’s silver medalist Haley Batten in cross-country racing.
"Our team pursuit team, we came over with a fifth rider and a reserve. That’s just what you have to plan for," she said. "If you think too much about it, we make it happen to ourselves."
