"Until this year, I never would have believed that this was possible" - Matteo Jorgenson takes biggest career win with Paris-Nice Maillot Jaune

The brilliant Matteo Jorgenson's ride at Paris-Nice 2024 is one that will long be remembered. Riding with consummate control throughout, the American secured the biggest GC victory of his career.

"To be honest, no. Honestly, never. Until this year, I never would have believed that this was possible, but here we are," Jorgenson reflected in his post-stage interview when asked if he could believe what he had done. "It couldn't have gone any better today, and the whole week. It hasn't really sunk in yet to be honest."

Being the only man able to match an ultra-attacking Remco Evenepoel on the final stage, Jorgenson refused to move from the side of the Belgian all the way to the final finish line. "I could barely sleep last night, I was so nervous and felt – for the first time in my life – pressure," Jorgenson continues. "To have it come together like that, and to ride in with such a champion like Remco, it was just a really special moment."
