Uno-X manager confirms other teams are interested in Torstein Træen after strong Critérium du Dauphiné: "We may not be able to keep him"

Torstein Træen was diagnosed with testicular cancer in the spring of 2022, but has been back in the peloton for a while now. In fact, the 27-year old Norwegian is performing better than ever. Last Sunday he closed the Critérium du Dauphiné in 8th place. Jens Haugland, Uno-X's team manager, was very pleased with that, but admits that it'll be really to difficult to keep the rider in Scandinavia.

"He has been riding for Uno-X for seven years now, he has been there since the beginning of the team," says Haugland on the team site about Træen. "It is an adventure story that we are very proud of. At this point a year ago, he was battling cancer. That says a lot… We may not be able to keep Torstein. We expect him to stand out to others now. But whatever happens, we fully support him. Torstein deserves the best."

According to Haugland, Træen is a "very dedicated" rider. "He is very loyal to the team and believes that it is possible to grow a little bit every day," said the team manager.

Earlier this year, Træen already finished second in the fourth stage of the Tour of the Alps. After that ride, the rider appeared in front of the WielerFlits camera. "Last year was obviously a difficult year," he said at the time. "I raced here last year with cancer, although I didn't know it at the time."
