Alberto Dainese is looking with confidence to the 2024 Giro d'Italia. And it only makes to beam with self-esteem as the Italian sprinter heads into his home Grand Tour with fully dedicated sprint train. Additionally, the Tudor Pro Cycling rider has already won two Giro stages before with sprint support that had much left to be desired.
"Romandie was a step to prepare for the Giro," he says during a press conference. "I felt quite good during the race, unfortunately on the last day I got a flat and wasn't able to make the sprint, but I'm quite confident for the Giro."
The high amount of possible sprints finals has attracted plenty of world's fastest men, yet Dainese is ready for the challenge. "The best will be there, the level will be very high but I'm confident. It's the first Grand Tour I'm going to with my own train, as the main sprinter and I hope to be able to give the best a run for their money."
Obviously for a sprinter every sprint is an opportunity to win, but for Dainese, there seems to be one he cares about more than others this year. "I have the Padua stage in mind, it's special for me," he confessed. "But I don't have to think about it now, it's still quite far. There will be a lot of sprints in the first week, any is fine."
