TV motorbike crashes into fans at the Tour de Pologne with four people hospitalised

Crazy scenes in the finale of stage 5 at the 2023 Tour de Pologne as a TV motorbike crashed into supporters on the roadside. Although it wasn't viewable on screen, post-stage accounts have now come to light.

"Four people have been taken to hospital. At first glance without serious injuries," Czesław Lang, race organiser at the Tour de Pologne glumly told the Polish media in an interview after the finale of the day's racing. "The TV motard had the necessary experience, was also in the Tour de France," he continues, seemingly unsure as to why the incident happened.

Matej Mohoric was second on the stage and afterwards mentioned the incident in his post-stage interview. “I was very motivated to win the stage, but not anymore after seeing the collision. Neither do the others," the Slovenian of Bahrain - Victorious told Wielerflits. “We almost wanted to stop the race, but some teams continued and then I had to come along because I was also fighting for something. But I couldn't change my mind after what I saw. I hope everyone is well."
