The Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team have started the 2024 season in excellent form. Across the board they have been securing victories with 21 total wins to their name already this campaign. Although the team are also starring at the Giro d'Italia currently, three of their Grand Tour stars are yet to agree new terms.
Arguably no one has made a better impression for the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team at the 2024 Giro d'Italia, than Valentin Paret-Peintre. The 23-year-old Frenchman secured the biggest win of his career on stage 10, taking the victory from the breakaway ahead of Romain Bardet and Jan Tratnik. With this performance coming off the back of a 4th overall finish at the recent Tour of the Alps, the younger Paret-Peintre brother is in his contract year in 2024.
Valentin's older brother, Aurélien Paret-Peintre is also in the final year of his Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team contract and the 28-year-old, who took a stage win at the 2023 Giro d'Italia before finishing 15th overall, has similarly to his brother, yet to re-sign any extension to his terms with the team.
It is a third Frenchman who is attracting the most interest from other teams through his performances for the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team at the 2024 Giro d'Italia however, 22-year-old Alex Baudin, who enters the final weekend sitting 22nd in the general classification.
According to reports by GCN's Daniel Benson, all three of the French stars are considered "on the market" and are attracting interest. "The Paret-Peintre brothers are still on the market and Alex Baudin is too. There's lots of interest in Baudin at the Giro right now," reports Benson via a post on his official X (Twitter) account. Although not much is yet known about where if anywhere, the trio could move to, it's one to keep an eye on perhaps.
