Tour of Guangxi cancelled for third year in a row

The 2022 edition of the Tour of Guangxi has been cancelled, the race organizers announced. This is the third year in a row that the final race in the World Tour calendar won't be taking place.

After it's debut in 2017, the Tour of Guangxi became the final race in the calendar for many World Tour riders who seized the mid-October spot in the calendar to fight for a prestigious race. With it's third year of cancellation, the points available in it will not be taking a part in the UCI points ranking - in which it could be a crucial race this year.

"According to the current Covid waves happening around China, the Chinese government is maintain strict controlling policy for the rest of the year," the organizers said. With that said, the race will be trying to return in the 2023 edition.

Alongside the men's race, also the women's race will be cancelled under the same reasons with the equal goal of being raced in 2023.
