With Tim Merlier leaving Alpecin-Fenix, the team has secured Jasper Philipsen for another two seasons as it is set to take the leap to World Tour level.
With the rumour of Kaden Groves joining the Belgian team next year, Alpecin are assembling their lineup for 2023 which is quickly gaining form. Philipsen has been transferred to Alpecin in 2021 and became one of the most successful sprinters in the peloton taking up until today 13 wins in races such as the Vuelta a España, UAE Tour, Scheldeprijs and Eschborn-Frankfurt. He's also headlined the Tour de France last year as he finished on the podium a total of six times in the sprints.
"I am very happy that we quickly found an agreement for a two-year contract extension. I feel good here and I look forward to continuing to develop within the team in the coming seasons," Philipsen said regarding his decision.
The 24-year old is currently at the Belgium Tour where he's won the only bunch sprint so far, and will be headlining Alpecin at the Tour de France next month in search of stage wins.
