Tour de France Femmes could have historic summit finish at Col du Tourmalet in 2023

As the presentation for both Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes draw near, the rumours about the route become more and more clear. The Col du Tourmalet, one of the Tour's most famous climbs, could give way to a summit finish on the women's race in the coming year.

Nicolas Georgereau, a journalist for RTL France has wrote on social media on some details he believe will feature in the 2023 Tour de France Femmes route. It is known that Clermont-Ferrand will host the Grand Depart, whilst the men's race will have it's first rest day in the central French city. He revealed that finales in Blagnac, Albi and Lannemezan as likely, whilst the race could end in Pau.

He further hinted that there would be a summit finish at the Col du Tourmalet. The Pyrenean climb summits at 2115 meters in altitude, can be climbed through both sides of almost equal difficulty, and has been used a total of 87 times in the men's race - more than any other climb in the event's history. Now, it could add another historic feature to it's reputation, as it is likely to be hosting a finale at the Tour de France Femmes.

Both Tour de France men's and women's routes will be presented this Thursday the 27th of October in Paris.
