Remco and the Soudal Quick-Step boys are home ✌️ #LaVuelta23
After a couple of relatively calm days, the general classification battle will return with a bang on Friday's stage 12. Remco Evenepoel is expected to be in and amongst the drama and is ready to give his all to take the Red Jersey.
“My tactics are not a secret, but it is difficult to say what I am going to do. You have to have the legs to be able to do that," says a cryptic Soudal - Quick-Step leader in his post-stage 11 interview. “It also depends on the breakaway, how good the teammates are… And what am I like?”
Jumbo-Visma and UAE Team Emirates may have the numbers advantage but Evenepoel is confident he can more than hold his own. “Day by day, stage by stage. This is how we have to approach it now," he explains. " Jumbo-Visma has three men in the top 10, which is an advantage over everyone."
"But tomorrow is a stage where the legs will decide,” Evenepoel concludes. “Tomorrow the climbs will be a little less steep, but we will have to wait and see. It's the first time for me to ride a Pyrenees ride, so that's a new chapter starting. I'm curious about myself, the Jumbos and the UAEs especially. Hopefully I will be at the appointment and we can make the best of it."
