Stage 12 of the 2023
Vuelta a Espana was a relatively calm, sprint stage and as such, the general classification riders had an easy day. Nevertheless,
Primoz Roglic was able to cut the time difference to
Remco Evenepoel.
With the breakaway caught and the peloton whole heading towards the intermediate sprint where bonus seconds were on offer, the pre-race favourites were expected to rear their heads. Roglic did exactly that, finishing second at the sprint behind Kaden Groves and pinching four seconds in the general classification. The Slovenian is now just 23 seconds behind Evenepoel.
Vuelta a Espana overall classification after stage 12:
3. Remco Evenepoel at 1'09".
4. Primoz Roglic at 1'32".
6. Joao Almeida at 2'16".
