The
INEOS Grenadiers rider was sixth in the summit finish, and enters today's time-trial in the same position. Overall success is unlikely, but it is a promising sign ahead of the spring. The Briton will have a packed schedule after a long winter of training and preparing for the road, and this afternoon he will test another discipline that he has been spending time on.
“Of course, in the time trial, I want to put in a good effort, and I want to improve on last year. I’ve been putting some time in on that, it’s important because if I want to achieve anything in a GC," he admits. Pidcock will try to go for the overall classification at the Tour de France later this year. "Then I need to improve on my time trials. It’s something I’ve done well in the past, but only after putting the work in. You don’t get anything for free for that, so that’s been a bit of a focus this winter. Then, on the last stage, I want to try and do the same thing as well.”
