Tom Gloag's return to competition after a serious knee injury is expected at Tour de Suisse

Tom Gloag has been on infirmary list since last year's August when the Visma | Lease a Bike rider was hit by a car during training. The 22-year-old sustainined a serious knee injury. He was operated on immediately, but since then there has been no news about Gloag. And as it turns out, the Brit won't return to competition very soon either.

"Fortunately, Tom is getting better and is on his way back," a team spokesperson told WielerFlits. During the annual planning, it was proposed last winter to aim for a return in June. Cyclism'Actu wrote earlier this week that the British climber will return at the earliest at the Tour de Suisse (9 to 16 June). His team says that this is in accordance with the winter plan. This brings Gloag's absence to almost ten months.

It is a hard blow for the youngster. He only rode six races for the team in 2023. Gloag achieved a sixth place at Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana and an eleventh place at Tour de Romandie. Then he was rushed in as a last minute substitute for the Giro d'Italia.
