Isaac Del Toro was once again one of the protagonists of Saturday's stage at
Tirreno-Adriatico, finishing fourth in a stage with demanding finish on Monte Petrano. All that while supporting team leader Juan Ayuso. The
UAE Team Emirates duo will eventually finish the race in second and fourth place consequently.
"The truth is that I don't know anything about the future yet, I just want to help and learn," he responded to SpazioCiclismo when asked about his long-term goals. "Today the pace was too high and I wasn't able to sprint to Ayuso, but I'm happy to do the race and to be able to give everything, and this makes me happy regardless of the result. Even more so now because I see that I can enjoy it, but also be up there with the best, and that's amazing. So you have to take things one step at a time and enjoy it."
"Each time it's more and more chaotic, sometimes I'd prefer to take the start of the climbs calmly, but it's always very complicated. Also, I'm young and I don't want to make mistakes on the line or anything else, and I want to make as few mistakes as possible. I've always liked doing things calmly and trying to see everything from the third person."
Finally, Del Toro, who has seemingly already established himself among the pros, was asked about his original goal for his first professional season. "I've already completed it," he smiles, perhaps referring to his Tour Down Under stage victory.
