Thomas Gloag yet again proved himself with an impressive performance in
Tre Valli Varesine on Tuesday. He demonstrated a powerful solo attack with ten kilometres to go, though his attack was not long-lived, he was able to go against some of the best riders in the world.
"For me, it was a totally different race than last Saturday," said Gloag. He continues, "I felt very strong today. The legs were in good shape. It seemed like most of the peloton was getting more and more tired as the race went on. For my own feelings, that wasn't too bad with myself."
Though his solo attack didn’t work he is not disappointed with the performance and looks forward to improving his tactics."I decided to go for it and attack at ten kilometres from the line. Unfortunately, solo, I was unable to stay ahead of the chasing peloton. Maybe with some fellow escapees, it would have worked out, but that's the way it is. Hopefully, this will make me stronger in the future. I did surprise myself a little bit today," he said.
He knows it’s just the start and the rider will get many opportunities in the future, the most improtant thingis consistency and training."It's important for my rhythm that I complete the races at this level. That I can play a role in the final is nice. I feel like a fish in the water with this team. Riding with such experienced and strong riders and working with this professional team is something I could only dream of last year. I am very grateful for that. I still have a long way to go, but at least they won't take this away from me anymore,” concluded Gloag.
