After an article in Dutch newspaper, Algemeen Dagblad reported that Chantal ```````van den Broek-Blaak tested positive for a banned substance in 2008, Team SD Worx have moved quickly to try and put out the fire, saying in a statement that "this case has nothing to do with doping use.”
The article in question alleges that the 33-year-old Dutchwoman tested positive for a water pill called furosemide during the Junior World Championship in 2008. In the race, van den Broek-Blaak finished 2nd behind Elise van Hage and ahead of Annemiek van Vleuten, however she was not allowed to keep her silver medal.

In a statement made to nu.nl, among others, SD Worx revealed that `van den Broek-Blaak has reassured the team that she's never doped. "Since the team was founded, there have never been any cases of doping." they said. “She explained her story to the parties and authorities involved at the time. They subsequently decided not to impose a suspension on her. The rider has also emphasized to the team that she has never used doping throughout her career."
Van den Broek-Blaak joined the SD Worx set up in 2015, 7 years after the alleged incident and it's worth noting the team revealed they were not aware of the allegations before the article was published.
