The first stage of the Tour de l'Ain concluded with Jake Stewart’s victory. Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl rider Stan Van Tricht finished in the third position.
While Van Tricht is happy with his bronze, he was more impressed by his teammate Remi Cavagna who surprised everyone with an early attack.“I stayed there thinking that the others maybe will have to go a bit earlier to bring back Rémi, but Stewart’s teammates placed him perfectly in the wheel of Rémi and had the best line for the sprint, while I came a bit too short,” said Van Tricht.
He believes he could have performed better than bronze, but its still his learning phase with the team .“The podium is nice, but a Wolfpack victory would have been better. It was my first time sprinting for the team and something from which I will learn for the future,” concluded Van Tricht.
