Jerez de la Frontera gave a warm welcome to the T-Rex Quick-Step riders before the start of #LaVuelta24 stage 6.
I still refuse to believe it, but here we go, Vuelta a Espana stage 6 will take off from INSIDE Carrefour shopping center. Lidl-Trek riders enter enemy territory, while Intermarché - Wanty ready for war... Or maybe not and it will be another in long series of experiments from Vuelta organizers, trying to attract more fans to the Grand Tour.
The supermarket chain Carrefour has been long associated with cycling, most notably thanks to Tour de France polka dot jersey. As an important long-time partner of Vuelta a Espana, they had been awarded the privilege to host the start of today's stage 6 in their store in Jerez de la Frontera, one of the "world’s greatest wine capitals", according to Vuelta website.
