The Ardennes classics are three races that are contested in the span of 1 week. We have the Amstel Gold Race, followed by the La Fleche Wallonne three days later and then Liège-Bastogne-Liège to finish. In this article, we are going to talk about the riders who have triumphed the most in these races that run through the Netherlands and Belgium.
We will find, as always, Eddy Merckx, who is present in any type of historical classification in the world of cycling. The Spaniards remember the exploits of Alejandro Valverde on this type of course. We also perceive the presence of other legends such as Bernard Hinault and a rider who could go up and up a lot, let's see how far.
We refer to Tadej Pogacar, who will depend exclusively on him to know what position he can go for. He will ride Liège because it is a monument and he can win it whenever he wants. - He was supposed to race Tour + Vuelta, but since Pogacar and Vingegaard are going there, he changed to Giro + Tour (just to try to win the yellow jersey at the 1st week and the ITT probably). Against Roglic he has a bit more chances in Italy. Press will consider him as the favourite anyways, as usual. Other contenders not to underestimate will be Ayuso and Jorgenson.
