The Swiss national time-trial championships will no longer take place, as expected on Thursday, June 22 in Gansingen. Due to the tragic passing of Gino Mäder still being front and centre in the minds of the riders, it will now take place later in the year.
"The team needs a break after these extremely physically and mentally taxing days," the Swiss cycling federation wrote on its official website. “Athletes also need time to process these events. The intention is to crown the national champion in the second part of the season. The new date will be announced as soon as we know more.”
As of yet, it's not known the exact date that the battle for the Swiss national time-trial jersey will now take place although it is expected to be some time later in 2023. The Swiss national road championships will continue and these will take place this coming weekend in Wetzikon.
