Steven Kruijwsijk has been a prominent figure at Jumbo-Visma since turning pro in 2010, and he's still aiming high as the Dutch team has taken over a considerable amount of domination in the 2022 season.
“I lay still for quite some time after the crash, but recently got back on my bike. With the season over, I have plenty of time for the process," Kruijswijk said in an interview with AD. "Now it's all about being patient. I will slowly prepare for the next season, because that is certainly not in danger."
Kruijswijk's season ended with a crash on the second week of the Tour de France that forced him to abandon the race, and fail to recover in time to conclude his season elsewhere. With most riders now beginning to put aside their bikes, Kruijswijk will have time to properly recover and prepare for the 2023 season.
He's hinted that he will be aiming for the Giro d'Italia perhaps, in what could be a leading position. Despite his support for Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic, he was sitting just outside the Top10 when he abandoned the Tour, and a Top10 position at the Tour de Romandie further convinces the Dutchman that he still has the legs to lead the Dutch team, specially as it is likely to focus a lot at the Grand Boucle and allow more freedom for it's riders at the Giro.
