Steven Kruijswijk abandons Tour de France after flurry of Jumbo-Visma crashes

As Primoz Roglic abandoned the Tour de France this morning to recover from his injuries, Jumbo-Visma was in for a more vulnerable position, and they will be heading to the third week with a maximum of six riders as Steven Kruijswijk abandoned the race aswell.

The crash took place with 64 kilometers to go. Kruijswijk crashed alongside Wout van Aert - exactly as happened on stage five. Whilst the green jersey managed to resume the race, Kruijswijk - who was sitting in 13th position at the start of the day - had a shoulder or collarbone injury and was taken away from the scene in an ambulance. The veteran had a very important support role for both Van Aert and Vingegaard in the race so far.

Kilometers later, both Tiesj Benoot and Jonas Vingegaard hit the deck aswell, however outside of Kruijswijk the team has not suffered other losses.
