Nairo Quintana's entourage continues to complain about the situation that the Colombian continues to live. The former Arkéa Samsic rider is still without a team since he tested positive for tramadol during the last Tour de France and his inner circle insinuates that there are some organisations (clearly referring to the UCI, ASO and the MPCC) that are blocking Nairomán's signing for a European team.
"Some organisations want to see him give himself up," Rusbel Achagua, the first coach the Vuelta a España and Giro d'Italia winner had in his career, told Infobae. Nairo's ex-preparer believes that his ex-pupil should lower his ambitions and move to ride for a lower category team, as it is clear to him that he is vetoed
"As they say out there, those teams are vetoed to sign Nairo and if he has already exhausted all that, come to race with a continental team, although he will not have the level that he is interested in," he said. "I don't see an option for him to come and finish his career here in Colombia, I don't see it.
Achagua accuses, without naming names, some organisations of deliberately wanting to harm Nairo Quintana and not let him compete even though the UCI acknowledged that he did not dope: "If they let him continue working he will show his level and he wants to retire through the big door and not as some organisations want to see him surrender and that is not going to be so easy because I am convinced that if Nairo is in Europe right now it is to be able to fight to have a team in the WorldTour to compete, otherwise he, as in his competitions, does not surrender so easily."
