Sam Bennett won't start at European Championships due to an illness

Sam Bennett may have been a real challenger for a medal for Ireland, on a good day, at the upcoming European Road Championships, but now it's been confirmed that the BORA - hansgrohe rider will not take to the start line with the national team.

He had been set to compete in the men’s road race for Ireland in Drenthe in the Netherlands tomorrow week, but has withdrawn from the team, according to Cycling Ireland.

Next destination of Sam Bennett's successful professional career are still up in the air, although it currently seems that the Green Jersey winner from Tour de France 2020 is heading to traditional French team - AG2R Citroën - for 2024 season.
