Rigoberto Urán has spoken before the Queen stage of the Tour of Switzerland and has made it clear that his goal in the Swiss round is to get in shape for the Tour de France. The Colombian rider of
EF Education-EasyPost had to withdraw from the Giro d'Italia because of Covid and that has made him change the objectives of his season.
He recognizes that it is not easy to have to abandon a race due to illness and that the sensations he is getting so far in Switzerland despite not being with the best are positive. Today, in the queen stage, he hopes to be as far ahead as possible to the finish, although he rules out any kind of attack:
"It's always complicated to abandon a race, more for an illness, for Covid, it's fucked up because we trained a lot for that, but we have to keep working, now we are focused on finishing here in Switzerland and arrive in good shape for the Tour de France. At the moment the sensations are good, although I hope they will improve. Today I hope to be ahead, as far ahead as possible and try to recover some time".
