Richard Carapaz wins Equadorian time-trial national championship

This Friday, INEOS Grenadiers did not only capture a stage win at the Vuelta a Andalucia with Magnus Sheffield, but over in South America they have gotten another win as Richard Carapaz soared to the Ecuadorian time-trial race to net the win.

Carapaz, who has had to abandon the Tour de la Provence recently due to a positive test of Covid-19, has in the meantime returned to his home country to take part in the national championships. In the 38.2 kilometer time-trial at Mitad del Mundo, Carapaz was the fastest, beating Team Banco Guayaquil - Ecuador duo Jorge Montenegro and Alexis Benjamin Quinteros by a margin of 2:04 and 3:21 minutes respectively.

This sunday he will be at the road race where he is targeting the road race national title aswell, where he should be between the main favourites.
