On April 12th, the cycling calendar kicks off the first of three hilly classics in central France with the
Classic Grand Besançon Doubs. Promising an exhilarating day of racing, the event concludes with a challenging steep ascent, ensuring plenty of spectacle for riders and spectators alike. Let's preview the race ahead.
The 172-kilometer route will be focused in the final hour and a half of racing. The day is not overly tough, and will have as it's main feature the ascent to the Côte de la Malate in Montfaucon. The riders climb it first with 48 kilometers to go, and then face rolling roads until they climb it again which will then coincide with the finish line. The ascent is 3.8 kilometers long at 9.1%.
