Primoz Roglic's presence at Vuelta a Espana "will depend on his progress" Zeeman says

Primoz Roglic is in a complicated situation where after being forced to abandon the Tour de France with the injuries he sustained on stage five, he is also at risk for the Vuelta a Espana - his two main goals of the season.

Team DS Merijn Zeeman has said in an interview with MARCA that “Primož hopes to be at the start of the Vuelta. It will be difficult, and we will study it in the coming weeks. It’s obvious that Primož was very impacted by his crash, but the doctors continue their work.”

The Slovenian was diagnosed with broken vertebrae after going through medical analysis upon abandoning the Tour de France. “It will depend on his progress, right now we cannot say yes or no". Jumbo-Visma have not talked extensively about Roglic's situation, as there is still examination of the injuries and a short time-span to decide the possibility of defending a possible fourth title in the Spanish race.

Jumbo-Visma have him set as the leader for the Spanish race, with the likes of Sepp Kuss and Rohan Dennis scheduled to be present aswell. The race starts on the 19th of August and every single day will be important for his recovery towards the race.
