PREVIEW | 2024 European Championships Women's Elite Road Race - Lorena Wiebes' race to lose

On the 14th of September some of the best female riders in the peloton will tackle the European Championships road race in Heusden-Zolder. It will be a course fit for the sprinters and classics riders, with a prestigious jersey to award at the end of the day. We preview the race ahead.

The 162-kilometers course will take place between Heusden-Zolder and Hasselt. A route within flatlands but the peloton will be taken to a small circuit south of the two cities in order to tackle two small cobbled sector.

They will be the Manshoven and Op de Kriezel, 1.3 and 1.5 kilometers respectively and both slightly uphill. They are hard enough for big attacks and come with 92/59 and 87/54.5 kilometers to go respectively. They come far from the finish and from there on the route is mostly flat into the finish in Hasselt.
