With the European season having it's first major races, and with the first big goals drawing near, many teams prepare their blocks to be race fit. INEOS Grenadiers have had many of it's riders training in southern Europe recently, and that has seen them take an incredibly strong lineup for the Volta ao Algarve with several stars.
Not only the reputation but also the opportunities for the overall classification. The British team comes in with several options, more notably perhaps Filippo Ganna who is just off a second place at the Vuelta a San Juan and further success at the Track European Championships. The Italian will have a long time-trial on the final day of which he can benefit from, with his climbing legs certain to be on point.
The race will feature two days where the climbers can succeed, with the traditional finales to the Alto da Fóia and Alto do Malhão. Thymen Arensman showed good form at the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana, whilst Daniel Martínez rode to second in the Colombian national championships, both will be men to watch for the GC.

The team will also include MTB Olympic champion Tom Pidcock who begins his season here. Having skipped the final part of the cyclocross season, he's betting big in this spring and should have strong form, coming in as an outsider. The team is further wrapped by a quality trio who will provide a lot of support in the climbing stages in former two-time race winner Michal Kwiatkowski, Jonathan Castroviejo and Laurens de Plus.
INEOS Grenadiers for Volta ao Algarve: Thymen Arensman, Jonathan Castroviejo, Laurens de Plus, Filippo Ganna, Michal Kwiatkowski, Daniel Martínez and Tom Pidcock.
