A three-rider breakaway went clear with hopes of denying the sprinters. Guillaume Visser (BEAT Cycling Club), Sam Gademan (Allinq Continental Cycling Team) and Léo Bouvier (BIKE AID).
With 23km to go, those 3 were caught and an immediate counterattack by a teammate of Bouvier, Vinzent Dorn went ahead solo.
As they heard the bell for the last lap of the race, Dorn only had around 10 seconds advantage. Dangling out in front, another counterattack singled the end of Dorn's break with Tim Bierkens taking over the mantle of lone leader.
With 8.6km to go though, he was caught and attention was turned to the sprint.
Heading into the final kilometre, it was the
Jumbo-Visma team of overall leader Olav Kooij at the front of the peloton.
It was Kooij who opened up the sprint and no would could around as he secured the race victory.
