Arvid de Kleijn has been looking fast at the ZLM Tour and last afternoon he has struck, taking a strong win on the third and penultimate stage of the race.

“The first hundred and ten, one hundred and twenty kilometers it was very hectic," de Kleijn said in a post-race interview. "It went in echelons. Then everything came back and the leading group was also caught up. The breakaway that came after was very easy to control. Then it was a bit quieter. But the final was tough for me."

The 29-year old was among the strong field of sprinters that headed towards the line, finding himself in great position in sight of the line. With the likes of Olav Kooij, Sam Welsford and Mark Cavendish struggling in the chaotic finish, it was de Kleijn who found himself the fastest in the final few meters, beating Jakub Mareczko and Matteo Moschetti into the victory.

“... It is very nice that I can win here. Also the way. Fifteen kilometers from the end I had a puncture and had to wait a long time for a bike. The team stayed calm and brought me back. It is fantastic that I can finish it. You can make such statements [of confidence], but then you still have to do it. Yesterday and the day before yesterday I felt that I had the legs to win. That gives me confidence, especially with the win in the Boucles de la Mayenne.”

Winner of Milano-Torino earlier this year among other victories, the move to Tudor Pro Cycling has been very successful so far. “I don't know where my limits are. We'll see. I'm just really happy with the team. I have guys around me who trust me, who know what I can do, who go through fire for me. You will see that today. That also gives me confidence," he concluded.
